Surface Features

This document describes the types of rules that can be applied to models that have advanced feature parameters captured.

Driving advanced feature dimensions increases model generation time. Where possible capture feature dimensions (distances, numbers and angles) as dimensions rather than an advanced feature parameter.

During model generation captured dimensions are driven before captured advanced feature parameters. If the advanced feature parameter has also been captured as a dimension the value being driven into the advanced feature parameter will override the captured dimension.

Surface

Surface Extend

ParameterTypeDescription
DistanceDistanceSet the extension distance
Type

One of the following values:

Linear

SameSurface

A linear type extension will extend normal to the sketch plane

A SameSurface type extension will be a continuation of the curvature of the original surface

Surface Extrude

ParameterTypeDescription
D1DepthDistanceSet the extrusion depth in direction 1
D2DepthDistanceSet the extrusion depth in direction 2
D1ReverseOffsetTrue/FalseSet the offset direction of an an OffsetFromSurface extrusion in direction 1
D2ReverseOffSetTrue/FalseSet the offset direction of an an OffsetFromSurface extrusion in direction 2
ReverseDirectionTrue/FalseReverse the direction of a single direction extrusion
BothDirectionsTrue/FalseSet the surface to extrude in both directions 1 and 2

Surface Offset

ParameterTypeDescription
DistanceNumberSets the offset distance for this surface offset feature

Surface Revolve

ParameterTypeDescription
D1AngleAngleSet the revolution angle in direction 1
D2AngleAngleSet the revolution angle in direction 2
ReverseDirectionTrue/FalseSet the revolution direction for a single direction revolve
TypeIntegerSets the type of Surface Revolve.

Requires one of the following values:

0 = One direction revolution using the angle specified in D1 Angle.

1 = MidPlane where D1 Angle is applied about the mid-plane.

2 = Two direction revolution using the angles specified in D1 Angle and D2 Angle.

3 = One direction 360° revolve.

4 = Mid-plane 360° revolve.

5 = Two direction 360° revolve where D1 Angle and the remainder to 360° is applied to direction two.

Surface Radiate

ParameterTypeDescription
DistanceDistanceSet the distance of the radiated surface
FlipTrue/FalseFlip the direction in which the surface radiates
PropagateToTangentFacesTrue/FalseSet the radiated surface to propagate to faces tangent to the original face

Ruled Surface

ParameterTypeDescription
DistanceNumberSets the offset distance for this surface offset feature
AngleNumberSets the angle to taper this ruled-surface feature.
