Export to Calculation Table

The Export to Calculation Table will export the data, according to the rules applied, to a Calculation Table that has been applied to a Project.

The data exported will only be available in the current Specification from which it was started.

Create an Export to Calculation Table Document

Before you begin

The Calculation Table to export into must exist in the Project.

With your project open in DriveWorks Administrator go to Stage 4. Output Rules then Documents - Data

  1. Click Add to open the Create Document wizard.
  2. Select Export to Calculation Table from the Documents list and enter a name to identify the export.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select the Calculation Table that will be the target of the export from the Table field.
  5. From the Fields list select any fields that are to be the Control Fields for the export.
There must be at least one Control Field for the export to take place.

Click the cell in the Field Type column adjacent to the Field Name that is to be the Control Field. Select Control from the drop down list.

Control Fields control whether a row is inserted, updated, or ignored:

    • If the values in the Control Fields of a row do not match an existing row in the table then DriveWorks will insert a new row.
    • If the values in the Control Fields of a row match an existing row in the table then DriveWorks will update the existing row.
    • If any of the values in the Control Fields of a row are blank, then DriveWorks will ignore the row.
  6. From the Fields list select any fields that are to be Common Fields for the export.

Click the cell in the Field Type column adjacent to the Field Name that is to be a Common Field. Select Common from the drop down list.

Common Fields make it easier when exporting multiple rows where certain columns have the same value in each row.

For example a Discount column might always contain the value 10%.

For these columns, you may only want to build one rule, instead of a separate rule for each row. To do this, mark the column as a Common Field, and DriveWorks will automatically use the same rule for the column in all rows.

  7. From the Fields list select any fields that are not required to be captured.

Click the cell in the Is Captured column adjacent to the Field Name and choose No from the drop down.

Typically any cells in the Calculation Table that are Control Input types may not require to be captured.
  8. Select/deselect the option to Drive Control Columns.

    This option applies:

    • To fields that have had their Field Type set to Control (in the Export Document).
    • When that field has a Column Rule applied in the calculation table.
    • When a new row is being inserted (export values do NOT match existing Calculation Table values).

The behaviour for the setting is as follows:

    • Selected (checked) - The value inserted will be the value calculated by the rule in the Export Document.
    • Deselected (unchecked) - The value inserted will be the Column Rule applied in the Calculation Table.
  9. Click Finish

Build Rules for the Row to Export

Once the Document has been created it will open in the editor for adding rows to export and building rules for each cell in that row.

  • Control columns are shaded blue
  • Common columns are shaded gray

A number 1 will appear in the first row.

Subsequent row additions will create incremental rows.

With a row added, each cell can have a rule built for the export.
