CPU | Intel or AMD with SSE2 support. |
---|---|
RAM | 16GB or more recommended.
See Note below. |
Hard Disk | SSD drives recommended for optimal performance |
Graphics | A dedicated, physical graphics card that supports OpenGL. |
Network | 1Gb or faster network card. Microsoft Active Directory Domain. |
RAM
16GB RAM is considered a realistic starting point for a typical implementation, serving 10 concurrent web users.
A more scalable solution, especially when serving more than 10 concurrent web users, is to load balance DriveWorks Live over multiple servers using Internet Information Services.
Please see How To: Load Balance IIS for more information.
Operating System | Supported Version | Notes |
---|---|---|
Windows® 10 | 64-bit (Professional/Enterprise) | Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. This means that after that date, Windows 10 will no longer receive free software updates, including security patches and other bug fixes.
We recommend using the latest supported operating system. Windows 10 running IIS When running DriveWorks Live through IIS on an operating system that is not a dedicated Windows Server operating system, the number of concurrent connections are limited (IIS uses some connections itself). If you use DriveWorks Live through IIS and anticipate many concurrent connections, we recommend using a supported Windows Server operating system. |
Windows® 11 | 64-bit (Pro) | Windows 11 running IIS When running DriveWorks Live through IIS on an operating system that is not a dedicated Windows Server operating system, the number of concurrent connections are limited (IIS uses some connections itself). If you use DriveWorks Live through IIS and anticipate many concurrent connections, we recommend using a supported Windows Server operating system. |

1 Microsoft® SQL Server® Compact Edition is only required when converting Individual Groups, created in versions prior to DriveWorks 19, to SQLite.
To manually download SQL Server® Compact Edition (for example when an Individual Group requires converting from DriveWorks 18 to DriveWorks 21) please see Info: Third Party Software Information And Downloads.
2 Microsoft has ended mainstream support for SQL Server 2014 (all versions).
A DriveWorks fix that is dependent on a Microsoft Windows fix cannot be provided unless the machine that DriveWorks is installed on is covered by a Microsoft extended support contract.
Please see Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Lifecycle for more information.

DriveWorks Shared Groups are supported to run on Microsoft Azure SQL Database. For more information on working with Microsoft Azure please see How To: Microsoft Azure. |
The latest supported versions, shown below, are the most up to date versions as tested at the release of this version of DriveWorks.
Browsers will update outside of the latest release of DriveWorks, and although we recommend using the latest stable browser version we cannot ensure support for versions released beyond those listed.

Microsoft Edge prior to version 77 (Edge Legacy) is not supported. |

Software | Supported Version | Notes |
---|---|---|
Microsoft Office | 2016 2019 2021 | The Microsoft Office Plan (Office 365 Personal, Office 365 Business, etc.) installed must include desktop versions of the applications being automated (Word/ Excel).
Microsoft Office Starter Edition is not supported. |
Microsoft Office is only required when generating Microsoft Word and Excel documents on the DriveWorks Live machine when it is run as an application (not through IIS).
We recommend keeping the load placed on the DriveWorks Live machine to a minimum and offloading Microsoft Office document generation to DriveWorks Autopilot, in which case Microsoft Office will not be required for the DriveWorks Live machine.
DriveWorks products are supported on virtual and remote environments as long as the guest operating system meets the requirements set out above.
Also when utilizing the SOLIDWORKS capabilities of DriveWorks (for example Capture and Model Generation), please check SOLIDWORKS Support for Virtual Environments.

License information is held in Trusted Storage.
Trusted storage is a secure location that is locked to the machine on which it is located using a combination of machine identities.
A license can become untrusted for a number of reasons, the more common of which are:
When a DriveWorks License is held on a VM (either from a Fixed license being activated on the VM or when the VM is the Network License Server) the potential for a license to become untrusted can be minimized by:
